PICKING ON HER HUSBAND RESULTED IN TICKETS TO PUNTA DEL ESTE

My mother and I were given tickets to Punta del Este because my oldest sister picked on her husband. Nothing to worry about, only those who know this little story can understand the joke behind it! It had been a few months since my sister decided that she wanted to go to Uruguay, but we didn’t pay much attention to her. So, one day I went to my youngest sister’s house for the weekend and when I was coming back to Campinas at night, I checked my e-mails and I was really surprised by an e-mail containing a ticket to Uruguay that my brother-in-law had sent me. The funny part of this story was that my husband thought that I had already planned this trip, but I hadn’t told him (hahaha!). Well, thank God everything ended in peace! So, the pleasant moment of those days was the Bolognese sauce that we made at the weekend. The taste was fantastic, super easy to be made and it’s a success among kids! You just need some patience while waiting for the sauce to reduce and turn into a wonderful intense colour. Let’s go to the recipe!

BOLOGNESE SAUCE

              Total time: 1 hour                                      Serves: 6 - 8 people

Ingredients:

- 1 kg minced beef (topside or knuckle)

- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped in cubes

- 4 garlic cloves, crushed

- 2 cans, peeled tomatoes

- 1 tablespoon sugar

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

- ½ teaspoon cloves powder

- 1 tablespoon paprika

- 1 cup dry red wine

- 500 ml  of water

- Salt

Method:

1. In a pan, add the olive oil, grill the garlic with the onion;

2. Next, add minced beef, break it up with your spoon or spatula and cook until browned and cooked through, stirring constantly;

3. Then, add paprika, cinnamon, clove, red wine and cook for a few minutes until the alcohol evaporates;

4. Put tomatoes, water, sugar, salt and simmer on low heat to reduce the liquid. It’s gonna be a thick sauce with an intense colour.
